Life at Denfield in 2024

It’s been a brilliant year at Denfield, filled with awards, team-building activities and well-being initiatives – and, not to mention, launching our shiny new blog! So, what better way to close off the year than with a quick round-up of all things Denfield in 2024?

“Blue Monday who?”

In what’s becoming a bit of a tradition, we started the year with the return of Go. Do. Monday, which was a roaring success in 2023. We like to take the winter blues into our own hands – saying goodbye to the dreaded Blue Monday and combatting the post-Crimbo lull by getting together and enjoying some top-notch grub.

We were treated to a meal each Monday in January, prepared by a member of our Senior Leadership Team. We had delicious customisable jacket spuds from Dan S, an American feast from Mike, a bellissimo Pasta D’Angelo dish from Miguel and a good old-fashioned greasy spoon fry up from Loz to keep us sunny side up!

Well-being wonders

It’s true – the way to our hearts is food, but we do much more for our well-being than that! Did you know we have our own ‘Go. Do. You’ well-being team, who are always working hard behind the scenes to come up with new ideas and initiatives? Here are a couple of our wellness highlights from 2024…

International Day of Friendship:
Nostalgic trend (thanks, Taylor!) and friendship day = friendship bracelets!

Send A Card to a Friend Day:
We believe that these simple acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day – especially when they look like these!

Children’s Mental Health Week: We wanted to do a little something for our Denfield parents, guardians, carers, aunts, uncles and everyone in-between to help encourage and support important conversations about our little ones’ mental health with some walkie-talkie fun! We hoped this small gesture made it a little easier for everyone to open up and listen.

Go. Thrive

As well as these creative initiatives from our wonderful Go. Do. You team, we’re also committed to well-being as an agency. Here are three other ways we support our team…

  • Weekly drop-in sessions (or just a cuppa and a natter) with our qualified mental health first aider
  • 3 x well-being days a year
  • Team surveys to encourage engagement and any suggestions

We know that the world of marketing moves fast, and we work hard to stay ahead of the curve. But we also recognise that success isn’t just about hitting targets – it’s about creating an environment where our team feels connected and valued.

That’s why we prioritise time for team bonding and wellness initiatives. For anyone looking to build a career in marketing, finding a place that values your well-being as much as your work is essential – and that’s what we’re all about at Denfield!

Friday Feelings

Friday Feelings continue to be a firm favourite in the Denfield calendar. Every last Friday of the month, a randomly selected group of Denfielders organise a treat for the office. They pick a card to decide the theme: activity, out of office, wellness or food/drink. This year, we’ve enjoyed special group lunch dates in Leamington, a slushy machine in the office, gourmet doughnuts, pumpkin carving and a paint & pint (our take on sip and paint!).

The Denfield Arms gets a glow-up

This spring saw a spruce up for the Denfield Arms – that’s right, we have our very own pub! With this relaunch, we introduced Cheers Tuesdays. Held every second Tuesday of the month, it’s a chance to get together and raise a glass to our personal and professional milestones. This year, we’ve marked award wins, client wins, qualifications, engagements, house moves, babies, big birthdays, a 10k race and even a published novel!

It’s also an opportunity to celebrate our ‘den-iversaries’. This year saw our Client Services Director, Mike, hit the big 10, as well as team members reaching 19 years, 17 years, 14 years and 12 years.

Greeting new faces – and welcoming back some old ones

We’ve been delighted to welcome some new faces to the team this year to help strengthen our offering, and over and above the team socials and well-being initiatives, we like to make sure they’re settling in well. Once we’ve got a good group of newbies, we have a new starters’ lunch in Leamington.

We’ve also introduced Denfield Bingo to add a bit of fun to the induction process. We’ve chosen nine things that are quintessentially ‘Denfield’ – naturally, half are food-related! – as well as getting involved in various well-being activities like using the book swap shelf.

It’s initiatives like this that make Denfield an all-round nice place to be – and it’s not just new starters we’ve been welcoming this year, but three Denfield returnees. We always like to say “it’s not goodbye – it’s see you soon” and we’re thrilled to welcome back team members with gained experience.

Community spirit

We’re proud of our Midlands roots and are keen to support the local community where we can. Over the summer, Senior Marketing Manager Hayley went ‘back to school’, heading to Arden Academy Sixth Form to inspire the next generation of marketers.

We’re also super proud of the Denfield-sponsored Southam United U9s, who took part in their first tournament over the summer. The boys played brilliantly and were runners up!

Levelling up

We’re always supportive of professional development and attending industry events, and 2024 was no different.

In June, a team of Denfield designers headed to Birmingham for the 2024 Design Fest Brum. This year’s theme was Process, highlighting the ever-evolving creative industry. Read more about the day and our talented designers’ key takeaways here.

The summer also saw our Data & Insights team go to the DataComms Live conference, with industry-leading experts, thought leaders and industry practitioners.

In November, our Paid Search superstar, Neesh, donned her cap and gown for her graduation in the CIM Level 6 Diploma in Professional & Digital Marketing, while our Studio Manager and Creative Lynda became an Adobe Certified Professional in print and digital media publication using InDesign.

And the award(s) go to…

And we couldn’t leave you before mentioning our awards… Oh what a night it was at the DataComms Awards by Communicate Magazine in June, with the team collecting two gold trophies and one bronze for our data work with three different clients! We won:

  • ‘Most Innovative Use of Data’ – for our work with Hendy Group
  • ‘Best Data-Driven Competitive Intelligence’ – for our work with Wellesley
  • ‘Best Data Insight from Communications Activity (Ongoing)’ – for our work with Banana Moon Day Nursery

We were also thrilled to attend the AM Awards in May alongside Hendy Group. We were proud to collaborate on their ‘That’s Hendy’ campaign and even prouder to see it win Marketing Strategy of the Year.

We can’t wait to see what 2025 will bring!
